6 Tips for Glowing Skin: The Winter Edition

6 Tips for Glowing Skin: The Winter Edition

Who says you need warm weather for a healthy glow? Our MYXfitness Coaches share six key skincare tips to rock healthy and glowing skin all winter long.

1. Let your skin breath and blood circulate

Kristin Condon: Makeup can be drying, so 2-3 times each week I try to take breaks from wearing it. I also make sure to keep up with my cardio in the winter. Cardio increases circulation, which is important for skin health.

2. Drink lots of water

Dyan Tsiumis: I make sure to stay extra hydrated when it’s cold outside.

Shaun Tubbs: Hydration plays such a huge role in skin health. I don’t get as thirsty when the weather is colder, but it’s still important to maintain proper hydration in the winter.

3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize

Justin Flexen: Remember to moisturize daily!

Erika Shannon: I moisturize head to toe every day. I also give extra TLC to areas that are exposed to the elements regularly, such as my hands, face, and neck.

Bri Butler: I use heavier moisturizers and avoid over-exfoliating my skin.

Sara Haley: A rich, hydrating night cream is so effective in colder weather.

Dan Lawrence: Moisture is key. I use under-eye cream and eye patches.

Donna Scro Samori: I add body butter or a thicker body moisturizer to my skincare routine, plus hand cream and lip balm.

4. Change up your shower routine

Lauren Sambataro: One of my best tips for glowing skin is to invest in a dry brush. I love to use one before I shower and then moisturize as soon as I get out. Dry brushing has a multitude of benefits, such as exfoliating dead skin while stimulating the lymphatic system for increased detoxification. To avoid drying out your skin, make sure to keep the shower temperature warm but not hot. Standing in the bathroom with warm steam can help drive moisture into the skin. A humidifier works too.

5. Wash your face, but not too much

Jesse Barton: I don't wash my face as much as I did in my younger years. Washing twice a day is too much for my skin. Your skin needs time to build up a protective barrier. This barrier allows your skin to self-moisturize and also helps prevent bacteria from permeating the uppermost layer of the dermis.

6. Let your skin breath and blood circulate

Kristin Condon: Makeup can be drying, so 2-3 times each week I try to take breaks from wearing it. I also make sure to keep up with my cardio in the winter. Cardio increases circulation, which is important for skin health.

7. Wear sunscreen

Garner Pilat: Sunscreen still matters in the winter. I put on SPF 40 with added hydration before applying my makeup every day.

Christina LaGrega: Even when the temperature outside gets colder, you can still get a sunburn that damages your skin and speeds up the aging process. So don’t forget your SPF.
