One of the lessons a regular workout routine has taught me is this: If you work toward a goal, give it your all — your truest effort — you will achieve it. It’s the same strength of spirit I tried to nurture in my kids when they were growing up.
Seeing them now as vibrant, engaged young adults (ages 25, 19, and 17) pursuing their dreams, I couldn’t be prouder of the people they’ve become. It’s the best, most rewarding part of being a Dad: watching your kids become amazing humans that you’re in awe of — much smarter and more capable than yourself! It’s an incredible feeling, knowing that you gave them a solid foundation before setting them out into the world, and knowing they’ll make the world a better place.
As President of MYX, I get to experience a similar feeling in my professional life too, putting something out into the world that I believe, wholeheartedly, makes it better. I’ve loved guiding our company through its growth stages to achieve the success it has today. I’m so proud when I hear our members say that we’ve helped them feel more confident, stronger, healthier, and happier.
While last year’s Father’s Day was socially distanced for many dads, 2021 will hopefully see in-person gatherings for many, filled with plenty of hugs and high-fives. I’m looking forward to celebrating with both of my families, at home and at work.
This year, Father's Day falls on the Summer Solstice marking the start of summer and the longest day of the year. For me that means more time to be active both outdoors and with MYX. I’ll often combine a warm-up ride or a strength training session on MYX with an early morning outdoor bike ride at this time of year. Using the MYX mobile app to stream a recovery session on my back deck after a long early run during the summer months really helps me feel great and prevent injury.
Personally, I’m a big fan of cross-training, so I’m planning to do a 45 minute Ride & Tone on Father’s Day (not saying who with — I love all our trainers equally!). For any dads new to the platform, check them out. They’re a great morning workout that will get you going in the right direction for the day.
Here’s to a happy Father’s Day, and a fun-filled (socially active) summer!
