Healthy Hacks for Father’s Day

Healthy Hacks for Father’s Day

Father’s Day may feel a little different this year, but it’s a wonderful opportunity to create new, healthy traditions with your favorite guy! Celebrate health by getting outside and moving together as a family. With a little planning, it’s easy to show your appreciation and surprise dad with fun, endorphin-boosting activities.

For the Tech-Savvy Dad

Let your high-tech dad show off his navigational skills with a geocaching adventure. Kids love this modern treasure hunt, and they probably won’t realize it’s full of educational benefits. Download the Geocaching® app to find coordinates for geocaches near your home or in an area of your choice like a state park. Pack a picnic and then plug in the coordinates so dad can lead the way. You can choose to navigate through the GPS that’s built into the app or through another GPS device. Before you embark on your journey, be sure to read up on the rules and expectations for geocachers.

For the Outdoorsy Dad

Pack the car and surprise dad with a day full of adventure. Research nearby trails to find a rewarding hike suited to your family. Zip lines and ropes courses are perfect excursions for adrenaline junkies. If you live near the water, check to see if you can rent kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards. Remind dad to bring his fishing gear so he can give the little ones a lesson along the way.

For the Sporty Dad

Help Little League dads stay in shape with a backyard tournament. Wiffle ball and frisbee golf are great options for healthy family competitions. Let the kids in on the surprise and dress up in the colors of dad’s favorite athletic team. If you want to be extra festive, stock up on face paint. Then spend the day outside together as you play his sport of choice. If dad likes to golf in his free time, challenge him to a game of mini golf. You can even make a DIY course in your backyard using basic household materials. Your kids will love the chance to be creative with the design. To all of the dads out there, thank you for all that you do.  Like our ideas? There’s still time to drop hints!
